Consult The Lord & Stay Away From Evil

People who follow after God are never supposed to consult mediums/psychics or horoscopes.

“So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;  And enquired not of the Lord:  therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.” , Words from 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 (KJV)

Live In Peace, When Possible

Beth and I had done a Bible study a few years ago.

I recall how Beth pointed out that the SONS OF THUNDER (disciples of Jesus named James & John) asked if they should call down fire from heaven to fall upon a village of people that refused to welcome them into their village.

Jesus rebuked the Sons of thunder and let them know that Jesus came to save people.

Jesus chose to go to another place.

If you are not accepted where you are it may be time to peacefully move away.

God’s Word tells us to live in peace when it is at all possible.

Move Forward

My friend, Gayle Martini,  Shared these words in a women’s prayer meeting:

“When the devil reminds me of my past I remind him of his future.”

Revelation says, “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Gayle is gone now but the words she shared are still true.

Are You Following God?

Are you following the Holy Spirit of God and doing things that you know are right? Are you following your own sinful nature by getting involved in quarrels, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, sexual immorality or anything listed in the passages found in Galatians 5?

Did you know that Christians are not supposed to associate with other people who have declared they love God if those people are openly or should I say blatantly walking in sin?

Are you praying and asking the Lord to help you live the life he wants you to live?

Some people only obey the Lord when it fits in with their personal ideas and when it fits in with looking good in the eyes of mankind.

You can choose to please people or you can choose to do things that are pleasing to God.

1 Corinthians 5King James Version (KJV)
5 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NLT)
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

We Will Be Held Accountable

“We are not guaranteed we will be on this earth tomorrow but we are guaranteed we will be held accountable for every idle word spoken and every deed done.”  ~ thoughts shared by Elizabeth Wolfe

The Wicked Will Perish

This evening’s Bible study has a focus on a truth about how the wicked will perish.

The day will come when God’s people will not have to be surrounded by wicked people ever again.

While we live on this earth we will hear and see wicked things done by evil minded people.  Wickedness will still be seen until the Lord returns for his people and believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are able to enter into the Holy City mentioned in the book of Revelation.

There are times when the good Lord does take some wicked people from this earth and those wicked people will no longer be seen.

WHEW!  There is a sense of relief when a wicked person leaves this earth.

I know of a young person that was seriously abused years ago.  There came a time when she found out that the man who harmed her had died.  He could not threaten to harm her any more.  She also knew that he would not have an opportunity to hurt anyone else now that he is gone.

Here are some passages that remind us that the wicked will perish:

Proverbs 28:1,

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Psalm 1:6,

“For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Psalm 104:35,

“Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord.”

Psalm 37:10,

“For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.”

Psalm 37:20,

“But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

I believe that most of us feel a lot like the young woman felt when the one who had been wicked towards her died.  It is natural that she was relieved that the man could not harm anyone again.

Tonight I am meditating on the truth found in the Word of God that tells us that the wicked shall perish.

THE WICKED WILL FLEE.

THE WICKED WILL PERISH.

MAY SINNERS VANISH FROM THE EARTH.

THE WICKED WILL BE NO MORE.

THOUGH YOU LOOK FOR THEM THEY WILL NOT BE FOUND.

Tell The Truth

I reviewed something  I had written about 2 years ago about some churches that are not using good common sense.

It does not make sense for a church to allow lies/fables to be taught as if those stories are true. It is not new, you know?

The enemy has been getting people’s minds off of the truth for centuries.

I am ashamed of the people that call themselves servants of the Lord yet they encourage fables to be taught to their children as if the fables are truth.

Tell your children the difference between truth and lies.

Tell your grandchildren the truth instead of lying to them.

We are instructed to teach children the truth.

It is disgusting to see the way some church people glorify their own way of doing things instead of doing what they know is right.

Parents, Instruct Your Children

What are you talking about when you are sitting at home?

What do you talk about when you walk along the road?

What about when you lie down and when you get up? What are you talking about during those times?

God’s Word instructs the people of God to teach their children about God. It’s not something you simply expect Sunday school teachers to do on Sunday morning or Wednesday evening. It is not something the public school teachers are going to be teaching your children.

God fearing parents are instructed to teach their children about the Lord every day and several times a day.

You’ve got to be studying God’s Word if you want to share it with your children. A good teacher will make learning fun for them, too.

Talking about the Lord should be so natural for you as a parent that your children will daily learn about the things of God.

The words from Deuteronomy 11 I read today that caused me to share what I have shared here today:

“Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Words shared by Elizabeth Wolfe after reviewing words found in Deuteronomy 11.

Performance

I woke up today with a desire to review what the Bible has to say about men & women who do things just to be seen by men.  I will post passages from Matthew Chapters 6 & 23 at the end of this writing.

I recall having a dream a year or so ago where I saw a woman manipulate other people constantly.  I had learned that she always seemed to be doing things to try to appear as though she is always generous and kind.  I detested the things she did so much I wanted to be as far away from her as possible.  She seemed to want to show me kindness in order to try to convince other people about how kind and loving she is.  She had been working her con for a long time.  I could only guess that she had probably been fooling people for years.   Today I remembered the woman in the dream and thought about how she could possibly receive spiritual help if she pondered on and prayed about the words that Jesus spoke.

People that work in the theater are stage bound.  People that pretend to work for the Lord are constantly striving to be crowd pleasers, too.

The questions true Christ ones need to ask themselves are questions like, “Who are you  trying to perform for?”  &  “Are you waking up each day thinking about the many people you will please that day or are you waking up each day asking the Lord to show you what he wants you to do?”

The Word of God also tells us that bad company corrupts people.

It is probably wise to do the best you can to have a few good Godly friends & family members to keep in your circle of friends than to be around people that are living their lives putting on the con.

I was also reminded today of how God will hold each person accountable some day.

All people will stand before the Judge of all as they are held accountable for every idle word spoken and every evil deed they have done.

No one (absolutely no one) will escape the day of judgment.  Baptists, Catholics, Methodists,  Lutherans,  Freemasons,  Athiests, Buddhists,  . . . EVERYONE  will stand before the judgment seat.

Many of us will recall the words found in Psalms 91 verse 8 when we see or hear about the punishment of the wicked.  We will know that the way of the wicked will perish like we are told in several Chapters of the Psalms.

Anyone that does not repent of their sins completely turning away from their sins will answer to the Lord.

The first 28 verses from Matthew 23  (KJV):  Matthew 23King James Version (KJV)

23 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:

All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

&  Matthew 6 (KJV):  Matthew 6King James Version (KJV)

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 7 (NIV):

Judging Others

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

1 Corinthians 15:33  (NIV)

33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

(NIV)

Psalm 1

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
